Testimonial from Screwfix
Gareth Thomas from the Retail Executive Recruitment team has been working with Emma Bateman, Talent Manager at Screwfix, since 2007.
The Service
Since starting to work with Screwfix Gareth has successfully placed over 45 candidates for them as Assistant Branch Managers and Branch Managers across the UK. He has been effective in supporting a very busy period of expansion and recruitment for Screwfix, where their small internal recruitment team were managing high volumes of recruitment for new branch openings, and for existing branches.
Gareth and RXR worked well in tandem with their internal recruitment team – especially in terms of adding value by promoting Screwfix to the candidate marketplace and selling working at Screwfix (at that time a relatively little known brand) to prospective employees.
Emma particularly praised the understanding that Gareth built up of their own business. He developed a real understanding of the Screwfix culture and operating model, as well as the skills that candidates should have, which meant Screwfix managers met with more and more suitable candidates first time.
The result
This learning curve meant that the ratios of candidates presented to interview, and candidates interviewed to placed were high, by the end of the recruitment period typically around 1:2 and 1:3 respectively. This was particularly important to the small internal recruitment team at Screwfix and to busy Area Managers, who had little time to spare during this busy recruitment period.
Emma describes Gareth’s service as follows:
“The quality of Gareth’s work and time he took to get to know our business and culture was demonstrated in the quality of the candidates he presented, and their match to our needs. Gareth worked quickly and efficiently on our recruitment campaigns, speedily presenting good candidate options for our teams. Gareth’s screening meant that we met quickly with suitable candidates and felt confident in his ability to source suitable applicants.
What’s more – he worked in tandem with our internal recruitment team so we had a strong and trustworthy recruitment partnership.”
